Tracy, Priscilla, and Melissa were once inseparable best friends always partying and spending time together. But things changed when Priscilla and Melissa gained admission into the university. Their friendship with Tracy began to fade. If she didn’t text first, they wouldn’t. On her birthday, they would view her WhatsApp post and scroll past without a word even though she always celebrated theirs.
They stopped replying to her texts and ignored her calls, always saying, “We’re busy with school. Tracy wondered weren’t other students also in school and still checking up on loved ones?
Eventually, she realized she was a people pleaser and decided to match their energy. No more texting first. No more chasing. Then Tracy also got into university and suddenly, Melissa and Priscilla started texting her again, trying to be close like before.
One day, they met her on her way to class. Melissa apologized, and Priscilla admitted they were wrong. But Tracy had one question:
“If I didn’t get into university, would“If I didn’t get into university, would you have cared enough to text or call me back?”
Silence.
“Exactly,” Tracy said. “You only care now because we’re on the same level. But I want to be loved for who I am, not because I’m finally where you are. Friendship isn’t one-sided. It takes effort from all. If this friendship must continue, it has to be mutual. Love should never be forced.”
With that, she walked away She had made up her mind no more people-pleasing.
Aura for aura. Energy for energy. 🔥❤️
Moral of the story: Self-respect matters. Don’t beg for attention or replies. If someone is ignoring you, maintain your distance and treat them the same way they treat you. ❤️💯.
