"Daddy, the doctor was just asking if my husband is open up to me about his health, I mean if we are medically fit to be married, in order to avoid any risks,"
"Is that true, doctor?"
"Yes, my friend. She is right, you know it's my duty to know they are medically compatible too. She's my friend's daughter."
"But it's like there is something you are not telling me doctor," Papa Shehri inquired and the doctor made Shehri worried, "We will discuss it later, my friend."
And so Shehri and Joshua ended the day so worried and disturbed, "What if the doctor tells my father the truth, who even invited him here,"
"Your dad of course."
"Why today. I have never seen him with my father. It was in the hospital that day that I saw him for the first time. He has never even crossed me along the road."
"Why now,"
"Let's pray he doesn't say anything till our traditional wedding."
While they were heavily worried, Lola and Simo popped in, "You will be the latest couple in town soon, why are you two still looking disturbed."
"Nothing," Shehri said and Joshua added, "But what are you guys waiting for, you have known each other since the university,"
"We will be tying the note after you people."
"Good news."
And so they had sleepless nights worried that the doctor must have revealed the truth to her father and it was obvious that was the reason that a few days before their traditional wedding, her father insisted to meet with Joshua and discuss with him in private.
"You don't tell a young man who wants to marry our daughter to come see you before he comes to pay her bride price and he waste such time. I hold the key to his wedding, my daughter's life is far more important than hurrying to give her out as a wife to some guy who might just jeopardize my only daughter's life,"
Shehri's father told his wife, while she overheard everything he said, and when he asked his wife,
"Just go and call your daughter for me."
Shehri left the door of her parents room and tiptoed outside pretending as if she had heard nothing. She knew her mom was soon going to step out in the quest for her.
"Thank God you are standing here,"
"Any problem, mum?"
"Ever since your father asked you to invite that young man who wants to marry you, why hasn't he shown up yet?"
"He will come soon, mom."
"Let him do, I don't know what that doctor told your father but I am sure he told him something about that young man that can stop your traditional wedding from going on, let him come see him quick before his family is embarrassed on that day."
"Hmm!" She groaned worriedly, "Mama, didn't he tell you anything?"
"Nothing, you know your father and his decisions."
"I will tell him."
So Shehri persuaded Joshua to come over quick and see her dad, it seemed there was bad news but he had to hear from the horses mouth. Apparently the doctor couldn't keep to his medical ethics and leaked their secret. So he came to meet Shehri's dad with his wavering heart.
