Episode 2

I was still lying on the floor, unconscious after drinking the wine.

The knock at the door made Arinze panic. He looked at my motionless body, not knowing what to do.

“If anyone sees her like this… I'm finished. This could be the end of the road for me,” he thought, trembling.

Quickly, Arinze thought of a plan to cover his mess.

He lifted me from the floor, rushed into the bedroom, and placed me on the bed.

“Simi... Simi...” he called, shaking me.

But nothing.
No response.
No movement.
Just foam slowly gathering at the corner of my mouth.

The man I trusted...
The one I built dreams with...
I loved him sincerely.
I forgave him, even after catching him with someone else.

Yet this same man… had a dark mind against me.

He stared at me for a few seconds…
Then slowly nodded, convinced I had completely passed out.

Then he ran back to the dining table, picked up the glass I drank from, and poured out the remaining wine.

The knock came again.

“Hold on! I’m coming!” he shouted, his voice cracking.

But his mind was running fast.
"What if the person at the door asks of Simi? What if I say she’s sleeping, and they come back later to find her body? Won’t they suspect and trace me? He whispered to himself.

So he came up with another idea. To offer the visitor some wine but mix with the same thing. That way, the visitor will be gone too, so there will be no trace.

Arinze nodded to himself. It made sense.
He wiped the sweat off his face with his palms, took a deep breath, and walked to the door.

As he opened the door, his eyes widened. it was Eniola.

My best friend.
The same girl I once caught with Arinze.
The same girl I called a sister.
I gave her money, even when she didn’t ask.
I shared everything with her. No secrets.
I never imagined she was planning with Arinze all along.

“Oh… it’s you,” Arinze said, forcing a smile. “I thought it was someone else.”

Eniola stepped closer, glanced around, and spoke in a low voice.

“I’ve been calling, but you weren’t picking,” she said. “I’ve been in the car for long. So I came to check... have you done it?”

Arinze nodded.
“Yes. It’s done,” he said confidently.

Then he glanced at his wristwatch.
“You know no one survives five minutes after just one drop… but I used three.”

Eniola chuckled.
“Ah-ah, Arinze!”

He smiled.
“Yes na, I had to fast-track the whole thing. Five minutes felt too long for me. Now she’s completely gone. She thought she was smart. Let her go and rest.”

Eniola nodded, then whispered, “Let’s go.”

Just as they were about to leave, he paused.

“Wait,” he said. “Let me clear the table.”

He rushed back inside and quickly removed everything from the table.

Eniola stood by the door, waiting.

Then, Just as Arinze was about to step out…

They heard something.

A sound. From behind. Like movement.

Arinze froze.
Eniola's eyes widened.

They looked at each other in shock.

Then... silence.

Slowly...
Very slowly...
Arinze turned around.
