Then Verona called her sweetheart and he strolled down to the scene to calm the tension. But instead Jaila told him,
"Sir, I have something to tell you before leaving this house,"
"Okay, I am listening,"
"What I want to tell you is only for your ears sir,"
Jaila said and the husband confidently added, "What is it you want to tell me that my wife cannot hear?"
"It's about saving someone's life. Someone so important to us sir."
"If you insist."
Then the husband asked the Housemaid to follow him. When they got to a secret place he was curious,
"What is it that my wife cannot hear?"
"You are responsible for my pregnancy,"
"What!" he blurted and claimed, "But how is that possible?"
"That day you got up in the morning on my bed in my bedroom, something actually happened between us,"
"What happened?"
"You slept with me,"
"Are you serious?" He gazed at her doubtfully and accused her, "But you knew I was drunk and allowed me to sleep with you,"
"You know I never lock my door when I sleep because madam said, if she needs my attention and I am deeply sleeping she can get into my room to wake me up. So that night I only discovered you were already undressing me,"
"You should have stopped me,"
"I never knew it was you because my room was dark. I thought it was my boyfriend, who has been blackmailing me to have his way with me. He has been molesting me,"
"How are you sure, he is not the one responsible for this pregnancy,"
"For months now I have not had anything to do with any man or him. He keeps molesting me."
"I thought I was the reason my wife was not getting pregnant. The doctor made it seem like I was having an issue with Low sperm count and that i could only impregnate her if we followed some instructions but ever since my wife keeps putting the blame on me,"
The master was muttering within himself in the silence of his mind and heart. After the thoughts he asked again, "Are you sure of your allegations Jaila,"
"I swear upon the life of my unborn child."
"I am not sure, there must be a mistake somewhere, think well,"
"That is the reason I wanted to speak with you in private sir because I have no doubt you are the father of the child in my womb."
"Then I will have to confront the family doctor, I know it was my wife that proposed him, as our family doctor."
He decided to find out the truth by going to find out from the doctor who made it clear to him, in private that he could never father a child.
