Coincidentally with the insults rained on him by the woman he almost knocked down on the street, he was outrageous when he stormed inside his compound.
"Where is my wife,"
"She went out sir,"
"Where did she go, without informing me?"
"I don't know sir," the gateman said. Without getting into the house he stood at the courtyard and dialed her number,
"Hello,"
"Yes Verona, I want you home immediately."
He got inside and put off the T.V that was playing. Sat on the couch drinking iced whiskey, tapping his right feet on the floor. Everywhere was completely quiet, even Jaila was terrified by his mood. Half an hour later, his wife drove into the courtyard and parked the car. Then she walked out of the car and asked,
"Where is my husband?"
"In the living room madam,"
"I can't remember the last time he called me on the phone by my real name. Hope all is well."
She stepped into the living room, with the stillness surrounding the parlor, her heels could be heard sounding on the tiles as she walked in. Then she walked straight to him,
"Honey, you didn't sound good on the phone,"
"I need us to talk and I want you to tell me the truth and nothing but the truth."
"Hope all is well,"
"How can it be well," he reiterated and added, "So you were the one who could not conceive a child and paid the doctor to falsify the medical report that I was the one who was infertile."
"How did you come to the conclusion that I am sterile. What prompted you to doubt me,"
"The doctor told me everything, is that not the reason you recommended him as our family doctor. Prove me otherwise,"
"I am not sterile, I was not ready to start bearing children because of my career. My body is an asset for my music profession. I can't afford to start having a fallen breast and flappy stomach, so I was on family planning. I planted a device in my body to stop me from conceiving. I know how much you wanted children and I didn't want to lose you due to my career."
"What!" he was shocked and was curious, "So, when did you want to start bearing children? When you become forty."
"But I am still thirty four," Verona claimed and he was mad, "So you prefer having your breast intact, so you could expose your cleavage on your music videos for the world to see, or put on bikinis. How many kids can you bear at thirty four? It is either you start bearing children now or we break this marriage,"
"But what prompted you to suspect me, hope you didn't impregnate a woman somewhere."
This was the query that took him by surprise. He didn't want to start telling her about the pregnant house girl still knowing she could give him children. It was unfair to him and if not for the accidental love making with his Housemaid he won't had found out so soon. What was next was going shock everyone.
